College student Haru is stuck in an unsatisfying relationship. When she meets Riko they become very close friends. Soon Haru realizes that Riko is expecting more from her than she is willing to give. KAKERA is a nuanced portrait of love, friendship, identity and gender, illuminating the intensity and confusion of the journey toward maturity.

About the director: Momoko ANDO, born in 1983 studied at Slade College of art in London before moving on to filmmaking. Her first experiences in movie making she gained as early as 2001 while working on the film production of SHOJO: AN ADOLESCENT. KAKERA marks her debut as a director.
