NIPPON CONNECTION EXCHANGING TRACKS

It′s finally available, the sequel to "Tokyo Metro Soundtracks". With its debut release "Nippon Connection - Exchanging Tracks" the label "das modular" is delivering a collector′s piece which will inspire everyone at the same time: Japanese fans, film fans and music fans.

The CD-Compilation manages it to easily build a bridge between Asian Lounge, Minimal House, electronic Jazz, Detroit Techno, Drum and Bass and Hip-Hop. All 3 CDs cover three different subject areas: CD1 - Kigen (Origin - the original), CD2 - Chikake (Attack - Club Music) and CD3 - Moku So (Meditation - Lounge Music. Length: 191 Minutes!

The Compilation is a wonderfully designed special edition with integrated flip-book. It is the result of a Semester Course at the Fachhochschule Mainz, which was offered to students during the winter semester 2004/2005, and had been supervised by professor Philip Pape.

Kai Bergman, who has developed the CI for the Nippon Connection Film festival, and is lecturer at the Hochschule for design in Offenbach, created the graphic design. He has been supervising a course at the Hochschule in Offenbach since 2003. The course completely concentrates on the communication design fort he film festival (i.e. posters, program book, cinema trailer, …).

THE CONCEPT

We provided 28 famous remixes from Europe and the USA with traditional Japanese music (Shakuhatchi, Koto, Japanese singing). They let themselves be inspired by the atmosphere of the pieces and the samples, and composed their on personal soundtracks of it. The results of the re-interpretation you can now listen to on the 3 CD compilation "Nippon Connection - Exchanging Tracks". All tracks are exclusive productions created for this project.
