YOUKOSO! Welcome to the 9th Nippon Connection Festival! From 15th to 19th April Nippon Connection once again presents exciting and creative cinema from Japan in Frankfurt. With more than 150 features and short films, the festival showcases a broad scope of current Japanese film production, from avant-garde and anime to blockbusters and documentary films, many of them German and European premieres. Over 20 filmmakers will present their work personally in Frankfurt. NIPPON CINEMA presents an overview of the latest theater productions. The best film will be awarded with the NIPPON CINEMA AWARD, endowed with EUR 2.000 funded by Bankhaus Metzler and voted for by the audience. NIPPON DIGITAL presents animation, short and documentary films as well as digitally produced feature films. The NIPPON DIGITAL program has become an international insider tip for everyone who wants to discover new and innovative projects. This year NIPPON RETRO in cooperation with the Deutsches Filmmuseum / Kino im Deutschen Filmmuseum devotes itself to Pink Film, a special genre of the Japanese erotic film, in which almost every currently popular Japanese filmmaker has worked. |
NIPPON CULTURE invites you to experience a wide variety of Japanese culture, ranging from high, pop and subculture. With NIPPON CONNECTION FESTIVAL ON TOUR a selection of the program will tour to various cities all over the world. NIPPON CONNECTION is the largest festival for Japanese film worldwide and can only be realized through the volunteer work of the festival-team and many dedicated helpers.
